I wanted to share something that has been on my mind.

My life needs to be filled with so much more Thanksgiving. Thankful for the little things, the bigger things, the harder things, the happy things. Simple I know.

Just to name a few things I am thankful for…
1. a beautiful place to spend thanksgiving in the
mountains.
2. friends that encourage.
3. a child that smiles at every leaf, the wind
blowing, and at strangers.
4. a husband who loves unconditionally.
5. a mom who is super thoughtful and gives so much.
6. hurt and pain, used for the glory of God.
7. Conversations about adoption and learning and
growing in the process.

ZOE!
Wow, I feel like the last month or so has been pretty busy for us. And I feel like Zoe is changing every single day. SHe is no longer seeming like a baby, but quite the toddler. She is really walking pretty well now, still kind of looks like a zombie with her arms straight out and not bending the knees too much! It is really cute. It is neat to see her little personality come out more and more. She is also going through some separation craziness…which really shows me how weak I can be sometimes, but needing to be a little tough and firm, goodness!

Adoption
We have now completed all training and most of the paperwork for our adoption process through Bethany Christian Services. In the last month I was able to go to a super conference out in Arizona and take Zoe and then Allen and I had a day long training just last week. At this point, we are waiting on the call from our case worker to set up home visits. We will have 3 home visits and also be working on our Family Profile (which is what the birth moms will get to look at) in the next few weeks/month. When we have completed both and approved, we will be waiting to be matched with an infant. I look forward to continuing to share what we are learning and updates on where things are at.

Pray:
We would love your prayers as we grow as a family. Please pray for us to have wisdom in how to help Zoe grow to be a disciple for Jesus and love Him. Also pray for us to love her well and teach her as we move towards newness with adoption stuff.

Pray for Allen and I that we would seek the Lord daily in nexts steps and decisions with adoption. Pray also that we would love on those around us.

Where to begin…as I’ve started writing again on our blog it is my prayer that it would continue to be a place for me to share vulnerably with others, where we can keep people up to date on our family, and where people are pushed to Jesus.

Like I said in previous post this week has been filled with different emotions. Yesterday was a sweet time with my mom, and actually Zoe was a little sick, which ended up being a good little distraction for me. But as we drove home from Greenville back to Columbia…I reflected a lot on the last five years without my dad. It such a crazy thing. It really does seem like yesterday, yet also seems like ages ago when I think of all that has happened in the last five years. That is one thing I have been stuck on, a little sad at the things dad hasn’t been here for good or bad. There are numerous times I think of what dad would be doing in certain situations and such. In all of this, truth is still in my heart God is good. My prayer, “He must become greater, and I must become less.” John 3:30

A little update on Adoption Stuff….we have our next training on October 28th. After that we will start our Home Study. Also, Zoe and I will be traveling to Arizona next week to an incredible conference,www.togetherforadoption.com, and will also get to visit with friends. More updates to come on all of that soon.

We just got back from a great trip to Disney with my mom. Going to post pics soon and share more. As soon as we flew back this past Sunday we drove straight back from Charlotte just in time for me to speak and tell our story of the babies for the first time at the “remember” walk. Every year the hospitals put together a time for parents to remember their children they have lost. This is a super special time. I was quite nervous to share in front of folks but hope the lord was able to use it in some way. This week
Is kind of full of a lot of emotions for me, after speaking and reflecting on Sunday about the babies and then I am going home tomorrow to spend time with my mom. I can’t believe it but tomorrow will be 5 years since losing my dad.

So it has been such a long while since I have blogged, but I am ready to dive back in. I will share a few pics from Zoe turning one in the next few posts. I also want to do a little updating on the blog, so be patient with me to get a few housekeeping things done too! Also, we are in the beginning stages of adoption, so I will be sharing lots more about that too! Excited to share what God’s doing.

I just read this on a friend’s blog and it radiated truth and more truth…need to remember constantly. Where is my heart and mind daily? Think Gospel…does my life display the gospel?

Live each day knowing all of the Gospel

is true.

Live each day determined to be

useful and joyful in Jesus.

Live this day in a way that,

should all things change tomorrow,

you will know that the Lord is your God

and this is the day to be satisfied in

Him.

Well, I could just show these pictures and stop there. Zoe continues to melt our hearts on a daily basis. It is so crazy to see how much she has grown in the almost 6 weeks of her life. It is also so neat to see how God has grown Allen and I closer and closer together everyday…I feel like I am falling in love with him all over again as I see him be a dad. Allen has been such an incredible dad, husband, and leader in this new little journey.

Some of the things I am thankful for…

Zoe’s health
Ability to do teamwork with Allen (tag team at times) as we learn how to best love Zoe.
Huge support from those that love us and love Zoe
Zoe snuggling on my shoulder
Baby wipes…helps everything
Sweet friends that keep Zoe for us to have a night out
God’s provision for our family way more than we deserve
