The Making of Six

December 10th, 2008

Courtney and I both grew up in Fountain Inn, SC probably less than a mile apart. We did not start dating, however, until the summer of 2002 just after I graduated college from Clemson University. Courtney had two years of college remaining at Anderson University and in August I moved to Denver, CO for an internship with the Denver Rescue Mission. Following my time in Denver (over 10 months) and midway through Courtney’s senior year, we flew back to Denver for a ski trip and I asked Courtney to marry me. December 18, 2004 Courtney and I got married and headed to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. For the first 8 months of our marriage, we lived in Easley, SC until August 05, we moved to Columbia, SC to help start a new church plant called Midtown Fellowship.

IMG_0645After being married for a couple of years in Columbia, Courtney and I began to pursue starting a family. During this process we found out that Courtney has PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and was unable to ovulate. Our doctors put her on medicine to decrease the cysts and increase her chances of ovulation. After a year of being unsuccessful, August 2008 we began our first round of hormone therapy (follistim) with no avail. In October with we went for our second round of hormones and the help of IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) we conceived. Because of the fertility help that we had, we were expecting twins or possibly triplets, but never in our wildest dreams did we think we would have 6.
